Done Day

Venting. I know for sure just how full and blessed my life is when I have a day like this.

Baby's getting molars. Yay, Baby! Puppy is growing, being crate trained, and always ready to play. Yay, Puppy! B is deeply immersed in a PlayAway book on greek myths for kids from the library. When he emerges it's to go run around a bit and eat. Yay, B! K is actually reading the manuals. The Monster Manual, the Draconomicon, the Player's Manual. She's cracking the D&D code. She's alternately elated and frustrated. She's been reading for days, calculating scores, budgeting and buying her supplies, and taking baby when she takes a break. Yay, K!

My day goes something like this: baby cries, screams, cries, won't eat, won't nurse, bumps lip which bleeds inside (not badly), finally she naps, I'm still in pajamas, I finish my hot cereal breakfast at lunch, baby wakes but nurses back down while kids fight over desired eBay items, I nix them and banish them from the room, B forgets to eat lunch so is hungry at two, baby and puppy are still asleep so eating or making any noise at all is verboten, I move the labeled curriculum for the year into the bedroom with the bookshelves, Mom calls when I'm almost done and wakes baby, I finally give up on a shower (because Baby's too funky to shower with or leave with K) and put on garden clothes, I take Stella and baby D outside so D won't cry and Stella can pee and have a run around, B comes out and I give him the job of rounding up the styrofoam peanuts that blew out of the biggest pots before I could get soil into them, he does a few and goes to play in the tree, I call him back and he stares at butterflies and finds a few more, then I ask him to watch D for a moment while I get soil, I come back and he's in the tree, I yell at him to help me watch D now, he does for a second and then runs off with the damn dog, D screams and has bumped her head on something around the bikes and fishing poles, we go inside and get arnica, B gets a talking to about being helpful, that he's not a pig we're fattening up for spring but a working member of the family, he acts remorseful and has some noodles with cheese, the kids fuss at each other, T calls during all of this and K diplomatically tells him later would be better, I call T back and give him the lowdown, that the day was just hard but everyone is cute, he comes home having said "okay, darling" which is the modern equivalent of "yes, dear", which made me laugh, which is one of the many reasons I love him, and the Cotton Factory tees arrived, and K re-warmed my banana bread for me while I nursed, and the puppy fell asleep, and T took charge, and I wrote this. Haaaa.

Now I am breathing. In. Out.

K is back to fussing at B who is swinging around the house. It is a full life.
